Filing your income tax return using Aadhar is easy, but there are a few things to remember. Before filing, you must have your PAN and date of birth verified. You must also have your e-filing portal and email ID registered. You must have the EVC of your Aadhar card. The EVC must be generated using your registered mobile number.

Steps to link your Aadhar with PAN

If you want to file your income tax then the first step is to link your Aaadhar card with a PAN card. Here are the steps:

Step 2: Log in to your account with your userID and password.

Step 3: Once successfully logged in, find and click on the option called Link aadhaar under the quick links section.

Step 4: Here you have to enter your PAN, Aadhaar card number, name and registered mobile.

You have successfully linked your Aaadhar with your PAN.

How to E- Verify Your Return Using Aadhaar Card

The e-verification process allows you to e-file your Income Tax Return online. It will allow you to quickly file your return without a paper copy and save time.

Once you linked your Aadhaar with a PAN card, it’s time to e-verify income tax return using Aadhaar. Here are the quick steps:

Step 1: First open the official website of the income tax department and then upload your ITR using the Income Tax e-Filing portal.

Step 2: Once done, you have to verify your return. You can generate this code using one of several methods. You have to choose the mode of verification to generate OTP.

I already have an EVC to e-verify my return.
I do not have an EVC and would like to generate EVC to e-Verify my return.
I would like to generate Aadhaar OTP to e-Verify my return.
I would like to send ITR-V/I would like to e-verify Later.

Step 3: From the list, select the 3rd option called generate Aadhaar OTP to e-Verify my return.

When you select it, a secure OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number that is connected to your Aadhaar card. So make sure you have access to that number.

Step 4: Then enter OTP > click on submit.

You will see “Return successfully e-Verified” messages if successfully done.

What is EVC code?

An Electronic Verification Code also called EVC ode is a 10 digit code that you will get on your registered number. EVC code is used to verify the real identity of the taxpayer.

Once you’ve uploaded your ITR, you must use an EVC to e-verify it. Failure to e-verify your ITR will invalidate your return. It’s also important to note that you can only use one EVC per return.
